NEW PATTERNS! OCTOBER SHOP HOP AND HOUSTON MARKET

15 Nov

P-CENTER STAGE

I found this yummy soft green/tan batik and had to design a way to show it off.   Large squares are cut at 10″, so a “layer cake” could be used also.

Great for any style fabrics, and novelty prints.  So very adaptable for any print, for your favorite guy or college student.

CENTER STAGE  was actually “center stage” at local shop hop (pictured below)  I was honored when Lisa displayed the quilt on the bed at Picket Fence Quilt Co.

NEW LOCATION:   Be sure to visit PICKET FENCE  at their new location in Wichita, at Central and Ridge Road.   Loads of parking makes it a breeze to come in and find more fabric goodies!

2014 CTR STG DISPLAY

      P-ZIP LINE

ZIP LINE  is just right for a Jelly Roll or a Bali Pop.  It actually uses 38 (2-1/2″) strips.   The set I used for this model is “Tidepool”.

I’ve seen this week some new strip sets in lovely colors called by the names of birds:   Lorikeet, Hummingbird, and Cockatiel.   My, they’re so pretty and just waiting to “fly” into this quilt!

And don’t forget it would make a great scrappy quilt from your stash.

P-CTR STAGE TPR

CENTER STAGE TOPPER is the same concept as above CENTER STAGE quilt, but is 31″x31″, making a jiffy quick holiday topper or wall hanging with a great print.

For shop hop, Lisa at PICKET FENCE chose some lovely fall prints for their model.

P-SPLIT LOG CABIN

SPLIT LOG CABIN is my take on the log cabin block, use 1/3 yard cuts.  Strip piecing the print and the background make a very quick job of the “logs” for these approx 18″ blocks.

Again, adaptable for shades of your favorite color, or seasonal colors.   A stash-buster too.

And it gets better!   With left-overs from log-cuts, YOU can design your own projects (placemats, a tablerunner, etc)    I chose to assemble them in one project (approx  42″ x 43″)SPLIT LOG 034

     HOUSTON 2014

Here’s a peek at my booth at market.  My, my!   That 10’x10′ space gets small really quickly.

Celebrating a 40th market, there was a special red and white display for the “40th Jubilee”  Was quite a stunning display of large and small red/white projects.

And all the other quilts displayed from quilters world-wide are mind-boggling works of art.

If you’ve never been, you need to put the Houston Festival on your bucket list!

Oh My! Lots to Catch up!

WHEAT FIELD 2014

Hello All!   So much to catch up on and such a busy spring I hardly know where to start!

But will start with a greatful heart for bountiful rains in June/July.  It’s end of July and flowerbed bursting like spring.  This is view of field to the north, out my kitchen window.  Between the rain and rain barrels, have not had to use “paid for” water!

SUNFLWR 2

Surprise!   Have several “volunteer” sunflowers from the winter bird seed.  HA!  The sunflowers have had visits from butterflies, sphinx moths, and a seed-eating goldfinch who resembled Cookie Monster the way he went after that flower.

PROMISE BANNER 2014

This beautiful photo comes from Miss Sherry right here in Kansas.  She enlarged my “PROMISE ETERNAL” pattern to banner size for her church, and her quilt group hand quilted it.  What a precious gift to the church.

Thanks again to Miss Sherry for the pic – I LOVE to see your creations.

ZIP LINE

Am working like crazy on new patterns for Houston Quilt Market, the end for October.  This is:   ZIP LINE

ZIP LINE is made from a Bali Pop package (TidePool) of 2-1/2″ strips from Hoffman.  I liked the design on graph paper, but am thrilled at how photogenic it is!

So much more to share about historic family reunion, a wedding in Florida, and more pattern news!

      More to come…………..
